Hey all,
As some of you may know, this next week is going to be my last week as a student at UCR (I'm graduating with a degree in Media and Visual Culture with a minor in History). I just wanted to say thanks to the club and all its members for the four wonderful years we've shared.
Going to anime club has always been one of the biggest stress relievers after a hard week of work and studying. I always looked forward to being able to sit back take a brake and watch some anime with fellow anime fans and friends. I was also introduced to a huge number of shows, many of which i have since purchased and am now sharing with my family and friends (go go 'Irresponsible Captain Tylor', 'Full Metal Alchemist', and 'Gurren Lagann' to name a few!)
I loved the cosplay contests we did in the past, and not just because I'm the reigning champ, but because they created a powerful sense of community and excitement. So, thanks to all of my fellow cosplayers for showing their stuff and making the contests a highlight of my school career.
The club also was invaluable as a tool in some of my classes; as a media and culture major 'American Otaku culture' has been somewhat of a special focus I would look to when projects would arise, some of which club members were even apart of.
To sound like a character from one of our shows, "I don't know what my future will hold, but I shall always treasure the memories we have shared." Hopefully I will be able to stop in regularly. Heck, I have a certain younger brother that may end up going to UCR one day and he can give me a ride for a change.
I'm looking forward to our last meeting of the winter quarter, were going to have a blast.
Peace until then,
The Paladin in the back,
Justin Wisniewski
