Your vote matters! We encourage you to exercise your rights by becoming a registered voter and by voting considering the importance of this year's election...
I'll likely be asking everyone at this week's meeting if they would like to vote early via ROVER (see below).
REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Monday, October 20
To vote in the upcoming Presidential Election you must register (sign up) to vote by Monday, October 20. You must fill out a new voter registration form if you move to a new address, change your name, or want to change your political party. Forms are available in the Student Special Services Office,125 Costo Hall or on-line at vote.ucr.edu.
UNITY IN R’ COMMUNITY FESTIVAL
Friday, October 24 – Early Voting Opportunity with ROVER (Riverside County’s Portable Voting Unit)
from 4:30pm – 10:00pm
Cast your vote early for this year’s presidential election during the Unity in R’ Community Festival, sponsored by “The Common Ground Collective!” There will be music, food and fun for all and it’s absolutely free.
VOTING BY MAIL
Absentee ballot requests must be received by your county election official by
5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28.
Anyone can vote by mail, and you will definitely want to consider this option if you are registered to vote outside Riverside County. The form to request an “absentee ballot” comes with your Sample Ballot, which you should receive in the mail after you register to vote. Elections officials process applications 29 days to 7 days before an election. Absentee ballots must be received by the elections official no later than the close of polls (8:00 pm) on Election Day. You may return your absentee ballot by returning it in person or by mail to your county election official or in person to any polling place in your county or by end of polls closing on Election Day. If, because of illness or physical disability, you are unable to return the ballot yourself, you may designate a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, sibling, or a person residing in the same household to return the ballot to the elections official or precinct board at any polling place within the jurisdiction.
ELECTION DAY
Tuesday, November 4—polls are open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
If you haven’t voted early or by mail, be sure to vote in person on Election Day. You can find your assigned polling place on the back of your Sample Ballot, or visit the California Secretary of State’s website at ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_ppl.htm.
