You asked for it, so here it is: a day entirely devoted to the building of Gundam Models.
Here's the info: We'll be meeting in good old Parking lot 6 on the UCR campus. This is relatively close to where are club meetings are; it's the parking lot next to the new Psychology building. If anyone is completely lost I'd be happy to post a link to a campus map. It'd be great if everyone could get there around 9:15 so that we can leave by around 9:30.
Then we'll be headed to Frank and Son's in order to find our models. Vendors are scattered all over the place, but there's two vendors in particular with rather large stocks (if you can't find them I'll be happy to guide you).
For those of you who don't know much about Gundam models don't worry, there's no experience required. The price range for the gundam models we'll be buying is (generally) $15-30 for a "high grade" model (which generally takes 2-3 hours to build) and $30-60+ for a master grade (which generally takes 6 hours to build) plus tax. I doubt anyone will have the speed or budget for anything higher than that...
After we acquire our models we'll be returning to UCR to build, at which point it'll be lunch time. Bring $5 along for pizza and soda; if this doesn't fit your diet talk with me and I'll work on getting something else for you.
Generally speaking I've set the event to run until about 6pm (which would allow for those who bought master grades enough time to finish), but don't feel obligated to stay the whole time. I'll be screening Giant Robo and the model-building episode of Genshiken whilst we build, so in theory you should still be entertained if you finish building early.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Also, please post if you aren't coming to club on the 26th of February but want to come along with us on the 27th.
So, in summary: bring $20-60+ for the model plus an extra $5 for food and drinks; meet by 9:30 at lot 6.
Hope to see you there!
