Fall Quarter Meeting Information rev. 12/1

Hey everyone!

We hope you all had a fun, relaxing summer vacation! ^_^ Our first meeting of the fall 2008 quarter will be this Friday, October 3rd. The info for our weekly meetings is as follows:

Location: Watkins 2240
Time: 6:30 to 10:00 PM
Meeting Dates (Weekly on Friday):
October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
November 7, 14, 21
December 5

We will be screening the following series:
Macross Zero followed by Macross Frontier
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei
Dennou Coil
Gunslinger Girl
Two other series to be decided...
- If you have any suggestions, please let us know! (I've already mentioned Skip Beat to the pres... ;D And Nodame Cantabile season 2 is also on tap! Anyone second me?)

EDIT 10/18:
Here are tentative dates for upcoming activities so you all know what events/new activity threads to look out for:

10/31: Halloween Party - come dressed up in any costume you like (well, that's not X-rated... ), and be prepared to bring food and play games for prizes!
11/22: LA Anime Shopping Trip - this will be an all-day event out to the LA area, notably Little Tokyo. Be prepared to bring lots of money (for food and gas too!)

EDIT 12/1:
12/5: Holiday gift exchange party - please bring a wrapped gift w/max value of $10 to participate in the gift exchange. We will also have dessert and a special holiday screening!

This quarter we will be showing:

Dragonball Z
Gundam Wing
.hack//SIGN
The Big O 1 & 2
Robotech
Bobobobobbobobobobobobo
and Naruto, just to keep it current.

All series are dubbed in English and edited.

Because it it was good enough for Cartoon Network, it's good enough for us!

? I was wondering about the undecided series' and the current episodes of all of them but thanks for the tip!

Yeah, as if we'd EVER finish epic series like DBZ...That would take years of club meetings! And some of them that cut close to the edge that we're already watching (there was one thats 26 eps), and we only have less than 30 weeks to watch them. (Once a week, 10 weeks per quarter for 3 quarters)


Wondering about the Nov 22nd trip...Thanksgiving break starts Thursday, November 27, 2008. I definitely CAN NOT go if its during this break. Buuut... Campus is closed Tuesday, November 11, 2008, for Veterans day. Why dont we take that opportunity and go? Or a Saturday?

Hi djtrickz: the pres is still working on what series to show in our empty slots; we'll post as soon as we know! He is currently screening a few from the new season, so hopefully we'll start watching some new series soon.

Hi dreamer: don't worry, the trip will NOT be on Thanksgiving weekend. We always make a point to choose a weekend when most people have time in their schedule, and we know almost everyone goes home for the holiday. This is also why we don't schedule events on any extended (3-day) weekends. We know from experience that many students go home.

So that's why we picked Saturday, November 22nd. It's a regular weekend when most students should still be around, and it's a day where everyone can stay out late. Half the club members are also non-students (as in working full-time like me), so going during the the week is also not feasible. Not everyone gets Veteran's Day off... and going on a Tuesday also means not going to Frank & Son's (a fave stop that's an indoor collectible swap meet which is only open Wednesday night and Saturday morning/afternoon).

We will post a thread when the event gets closer and we have more info. I've also edited the main post to add event dates so people can plan ahead for those.

Actually, Big O 1 and 2 would be an awesome set.

So do you want me to bring in the Macross Plus movie? It's close to two hours long. It seems that it would take up a significant portion of a meeting and I wouldn't want to monopolize club time.

November 22nd?! Thats when I turn 18! NOW I CAN FINALLY BUY HENT-- I mean... I hope my parents dont come up that weekend. I also think the only x-rated costume would be having no costume on at all!
