I dont know how well that would work on disabled people. You'd think after a while the brain would stop sending signals to muscles that either dont work or arn't there at all. But then again there's that "phantom limb" theory. It must weigh a ton too! Imagine getting stuck in that thing in a bad position. D: I'd say the terminator is more governor than machine.

This is the very beginning for powered exoskeletons, like how Univac used to take up all this space and had less power and storage than a cell phone today. There are a number of possibilities for where the technological singularity ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity) will come from. One of those possibilities is the rise of an emergent intelligence through AI. Another possibility is that of transhumanism- the augmentation of humanity's physical and mental abilities by technology. What I was getting at above was that a powered exoskeleton is a step down that second road.
