But the poms still recognize you when they come back, right? When I came home for winter break one of my moms puppies didnt recognize me until I called its name. It was kind of sad. Same for me. My mom used to train horses for like 20 years so she knows all the specs. She probably could be a horse vet if she wanted to. I thought all moms could go on an on like that. But I think you know a lot about them, looking at this thread! And I hear the honors class in fall had to take a course on the history and genealogy of orange trees, so I dont think it would be too wild to have a class on poms. That really sucks, but hopefully you'll get an upgrade some day. Since technology (at least in this industry) is exponentially growing, you'll get something even better than FIOS when they come! What kind of internet do you have over there? Maybe you can just relocate near the UC, since our internet is pretty d**n good. 200mb/s 24/7!

The poms seem to react to humans, not to a particular human, mostly. One of the really old ones (11 years, I think) is an inside-only dog, has to have heard / breathing pills every day. This is the one that could die if it gets too excited / happy. This one is imprinted on Corrine (whose room she stays in), then secondarily on me (because I pet her frequently), then any other human. Our choice over here is dialup or Verizon Wireless. We have wireless, which typically comes in at about 1/2 the speed of my old DSL line. The problem with Verizon Wireless (GTE, dammit) (Sprint, too) is there's a 5gb/mo cap, so we have to pay attention to the bandwidth budget. There's Hughes Net and Wild Blue, both satellite dish internet. I looked at trying each of them, but I got enough of a sense of it not feeling right that I didn't want to commit to either one. Faster speed, higher monthly bandwidth caps, but equipment costs too high (dish + pole to mount dish since can't mount on our house) and too many bad stories on www.ripoffreports.com. If I was single, I would never have moved to a dialup-only area (Verizon Wireless being mostly everywhere). I know i'm where I should be, though, so as frustrating as not having a decent internet connection may be, it's secondary to other needs.

Aww. You meant "heart/breathing pills"? At least it would die happy? I've never heard of that. I suppose that speed outweighs bandwidth concern? I had dial-up for the longest time, and it was HELL. But even the dial-up at my home is so slow, its as if we were on dial-up. Maybe not as slow since it takes twice as long to watch a video as how long it is. But after watching a couple episodes it gets to the point where nuts just doesnt load anymore. My brother's trying to solve this dilemma with a new provider, but verizon is also the only wireless one in our area. Oooh. It looks like that site is a lot better than snopes. It kind of reminds me of carfactshistoryreport. Lol, I understand. I didnt choose UCR because of the fantastic wireless internet (though it is a major plus).
