Too bad, it would've been quite educational.

Lol, you're right about that! I learned so many interesting Japanese slang terms from this show, among other things... Maybe I'll bring a disk Friday in case anyone wants to see an ep. That's what personal laptops are for! ^_^

But you guys had to have voted for Macross in Spring of last years quarter, and that majority won. There was only three episodes left!
The first three eps of Elfin Lied were full nudity! And Adult Swim wanted to air Elfin Lied, but they would have to edit too much of the show out. I think a hamster telling someone how to get off is better than someone getting all of their limbs sliced off and then getting tossed around helplessly until they died or watching a dog get killed by some kids.
But if you were to really show it, would you ask the kids/highschoolers to leave??

Were there two different Macross series that were voted off? I don't follow the stuff that's being shown so I have no idea.

There was just the one. It was annoying that we couldnt at least finish the series when we were so close to the end.

Well if I'm understanding this correctly there was more than just 3 episodes left. Sorry about that. I wanted to see the end of Macross as well, but I counted only three people interested in continuing the series which is a sad number considering that we'd have to watch 2 episodes of Macross Frontier a week to finish by the end of the quarter. If we were over halfway through the series as we are with our other series I probably would have continued screening Macross regardless, but we weren't even a third of the way through the series yet.

We would have finished with one episode per meeting at the end of the year. I thought we were more ahead, reading the episode descriptions. I remember asking how many were left and not being too many. Its the principal, pulling a series and not even finishing the arc at least! We didnt even get to finish the fight against the enemy!

It was more than fair. Why should the vast majority of the club, with the exception of three people, be forced to watch a series it's painfully obvious they have no interest in? The president noticed that no one was really paying attention to the series, put his observation out there, and found it validated by the vast majority of the clubgoers in the viewing room.
In the best interests of the GROUP, and with their SUPPORT, he changed to a series that the club was more likely to enjoy ESPECIALLY since they chose it! He got their input and selected new shows based on their consensus. There is nothing more fair and equitable than that. There is no way every clubgoer is going to enjoy every series that is shown. It has never been that way, and it never will be. Satisfying the majority of the club members is the best we can do. If you cannot respect the decisions the club makes, maybe Greenwood is not for you. You have the choice to not attend.
As far as I am concerned, there is nothing to discuss since nothing will change the decision that the club made as a group. If you persist in continuing this conversation I will delete any subsequent comments you make. Consider this your warning. I am tired of the negativity as it serves absolutely no purpose in this thread, and I would like the thread to move on to more constructive topics. If it's even possible at this point.
This topic of conversation is OVER.

I axed a series once. Just remember that we presidentes can be dictators if need be, but we really do try to get feedback from the members. Being in the minority may not be fun, but it happens from time to time.

I'll take up the challenge. Now that the spring quarter has arrived, we should be expecting an increase in attendance, or so I've heard. Now I can try something I've been wanting to do since the beginning of winter. As every show has an opening and ending performance, what with the flashy displays previewing the action and excitement to come and the more sober music bringing the moment to a close, I'd figure the whole 3.5 hours should be considered one big show that needs a beginning and end. What I'd like to do is to show high-definition YouTube videos of the Idolmaster to start and finish every meeting. The Idolmaster is a XBox 360 game exclusive to Japan about young girls who sing and dance in flashy costumes and catchy J-pop tunes. It is remarkably popular and players are frequently making videos of their girls' performances, making an abundance waiting to be discovered. Not all of them are excellent, but I've seen enough to pick out the really good ones. I think members would enjoy getting riled up for the oncoming shows by little girls bouncing to energetic, upbeat tunes, then later cool off with pretty teenagers dancing to something more slow and somber at the end. The dances do not last much longer than two minutes each, so they can be shown without consequence to the lineup. There are some concerns, however. For one, many of the players who record their dances are native Japanese speakers with variable English fluency. They usually do not translate the songs, and the few that are were mostly made during the time before YouTube enabled HD. Rather be inconsistent in visual quality, expect no more than Japanese subtitles. Other issues are some people may not have much of a taste for J-pop's saccharine tunes and shrill vocals, while others may feel uncomfortable with the seemingly lolicon undertones. I previously tried to do this at the beginning of winter quarter. The few responses I heard were mixed, with some showing some enthusiasm and others having complants like the lack of English subtitles, and I think there was even one outright dismissal. But attendance was too low at the time to validly gauge overall reception. Now that the spring has started, I can try again and see if this is something the members can enjoy as a whole. If not, then... somehow I doubt that would be the case. Honestly, how can anyone say no to them?

We should watch this video about mechs playing basketball next meeting:
Now that I think about it, it reminds me of "vampires playing baseball" or "Fonzie jumps the shark".
